5 Ways to Repurpose Used Clothing

Picture7

Do you have a bunch of perfectly good clothes you’re tired of wearing? Is your favorite tee in tethers, waiting to be discarded? We’ve got a few ideas for you to reuse your old clothes.

Make It into Something New

Did you know that nearly 2.5 billion pounds of textiles are recycled each year? Now imagine if you could do it at home too!

DIY projects are super fun, especially when they involve recycling your clothes! When it comes to reusing your rags, there’s so much you can do. You can turn your old garments into a new, functional object or choose to repurpose it as a decorative item.

Got a bunch of faded t-shirts? You can convert them into washcloths!

Have a pair of worn out sneakers? They can be used as plant holders! Outgrew your favorite pair of jeans?

A DIY denim handbag is going to look so chic and trendy with your outfit!

The list is endless. Select your choice of material, Google a few DIY projects, and get to work!

Restyle Your Wardrobe

If you’re not ready to depart with your favorite blouse despite that large hole in the side, then we’ve got some more ideas for you!

Patchwork has never been as trendy as it is today. Fix the odd tears and holes in your beloved garments with colorful patches of new cloth. Your friends will marvel at your creativity and fashion sense once they see your refurbished top!

You can also alter lengths and cuts of the garment, while retaining its essence. Old jeans can be made into cut-offs. Faded t-shirts can be made into vests.  Just a few snips and stitches and you have a whole new wardrobe!

Swap Them with Your Friends

We’ve all grown up with hand-me-downs from our elder siblings and cousins. Now imagine if you were to swap clothes with your friends too. Are you really going to use that orange shirt despite not having worn it in three years? It’s time to part ways!

Gather all the clothes you don’t or won’t wear, and see if any of your friends may be interested. Just because it isn’t quite your color doesn’t mean your friend wouldn’t love that top of yours!

Give Them to a Person in Need

You can give away your old clothes to somebody who may be in need of it. Do you know someone in the neighborhood who could do with a few new shirts? Don’t hesitate in approaching them! Your contribution will go a long way!
