WILLIAM SCHAPIRO

President and CEO

After graduating from Duke University, Schapiro followed his grandfather, father, and uncle into the industry in 1976. Since then, he has modernized and expanded a distinguished, century-old business into nearly 50 countries over four continents while producing committed long-term partnerships and strategic world-wide relationships. A mentor to a talented new generation of company leaders, he has served as President of the industry’s trade association Secondary Materials and Recycled Textile Association (SMART) as well as held a prestigious seat on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee (ITAC) for the U.S. Department of Commerce.

    BRIAN SCHAPIRO LONDON

    Executive Vice President

    Following a tradition that began with his great-great-grandfather Solomon Schapiro and continued down though his uncle William Schapiro, London serves as our Executive Vice President, eager to build on his family’s respected business tradition as a fifth generation "ragman."  Dr. London joined the family business from the medical field, having received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Cornell University, completing internship in New York City with training in psychiatry before becoming a licensed physician. A fluent Spanish speaker, London has extensive experience living and working in South America and is especially involved in the company’s Latin American ventures. He will be overseeing all facets of the company’s day-to-day operations from our headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, the company’s home since 1907.

      JENNY VEATER

      Chief Financial Officer

      Jenny joined Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC in May 2017 as Chief Financial Officer.  She brings 30 years of management experience in accounting, finance, IT/systems, and risk management in the landscape and construction industries. She holds an active CPA license, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Accounting from the University of Maryland and an MBA in Finance from Hood College. Jenny has three grown children and enjoys cooking, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.

        MELENIE YORK

        Logistics Manager

        Melenie handles the export and domestic logistics along with customer relations for Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC. She provides a personal touch and attention to detail appreciated by all of our suppliers and customers around the world. Before coming to Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC, Melenie enjoyed successful careers in the art world, the publishing arena, where she focused on logistics and developed well-rounded knowledge of business skills. Her canine assistant, Bugsbee, comes to work with her daily and provides great stress relief for the office staff.

          LORETTA O’CONNOR

          Logistics Coordinator

          Though new to the textiles industry, Loretta brings over ten years of experience as an Administrative Assistant to the logistics bureau. Loretta is a graduate of St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland. She aspires to be an asset of the logistics department and reap the expertise of the entire Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC team.

            JOSEPH ABERMAN

            Vice President of Business Development

            Since joining Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC in 2008, Joseph has been responsible for initiating multiple new projects to increase product collections and develop new accounts.  In his current position, Joseph is responsible for establishing new partner relationships, initiating and developing new business opportunities. He is also active in researching and managing new accounts, as well as purchasing and selling selected products.  Joseph is a graduate of Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government.

              GARY STEWARD

              Mission Development Specialist

              Gary has vast experience working for and with many non-profits across America.  Since joining the Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC team, Gary has developed two successful fundraising programs, “Clean Out Your Closets™” and “Do More”.  Both campaigns provide an opportunity to engage churches, businesses, schools, donors and volunteers in textile recycling and fundraising.  Gary has the knowledge and experience to help organizations expand their fundraising and volunteer base.

                Senior Marketing Associate

                Hugh is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, is highly involved in our marketing and business development efforts. A former professor at Shippensburg University, Dr. Aberman uses his extensive background in marketing, organizational training and development to establish and build long lasting business relationships for Whitehouse & Schapiro.

                  JEFFREY STENGEL

                  Director of Warehouse Operations

                  Jeffrey brings extensive experience in logistics, procurement, commodity sales, and the recycling industry. Previously with Goodwill, he developed and implemented recycling programs. The building of positive customer relationships enabled Jeffrey to enhance the sales of diverse product lines in the worldwide marketplace, thus contributing to the reduction of their carbon footprint.

                    ANN PARKER

                    Accounts Receivable and Payable Specialist

                    A recent addition to Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC, Ann brings over 12 years of experience in the accounts payable field with the last 10 years serving in the landscape industry. Ann is a graduate of Niagara University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. New to the textiles industry, Ann brings a vast knowledge of processes and procedures to the daily accounting operations.
