Meet the Team

Following a tradition that began with his great-great-grandfather Solomon Schapiro and continued down though his uncle William Schapiro, London serves as our President and CEO, eager to build on his family’s respected business tradition as a fifth generation “ragman.”  Dr. London joined the family business from the medical field, having received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Cornell University, completing internship in New York City with training in psychiatry before becoming a licensed physician.

A fluent Spanish speaker, London has extensive experience living and working in South America and is especially involved in the company’s Latin American ventures. He will be overseeing all facets of the company’s day-to-day operations from our headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, the company’s home since 1907.

Cyprienne Crowley joins the rag business from the world of sustainable engineering. After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Cyprienne worked as an engineering consultant for 15 years in New York City. She worked on many of the most recognizable sports stadiums and universities in the world, in addition to a portfolio of cutting-edge projects requiring innovative solutions with a focus on sustainability and building energy use reduction. With the same passion towards sustainability and carbon footprint reduction, she entered the textile recycling space in 2019. Cyprienne oversees our warehouse operation in Baltimore and utilizing her engineering background, is continually improving efficiency, developing new products and enhancing value for our customers. In keeping with W&S family tradition, Cyprienne also happens to be Brian’s wife.

Since joining Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC in 2008, Joseph has been responsible for initiating multiple new projects to increase product collections and develop new accounts.  In his current position, Joseph is responsible for establishing new partner relationships, initiating and developing new business opportunities. He is also active in researching and managing new accounts, as well as purchasing and selling selected products.  Joseph is a graduate of Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government.

Gary has vast experience working for and with many non-profits across America.  Since joining the Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC team, Gary has developed two successful fundraising programs, “Clean Out Your Closets™” and “Do More”.  Both campaigns provide an opportunity to engage churches, businesses, schools, donors and volunteers in textile recycling and fundraising.  Gary has the knowledge and experience to help organizations expand their fundraising and volunteer base.

Melenie handles the export and domestic logistics along with customer relations for Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC. She provides a personal touch and attention to detail appreciated by all of our suppliers and customers around the world. Before coming to Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC, Melenie enjoyed successful careers in the art world, the publishing arena, where she focused on logistics and developed well-rounded knowledge of business skills. Her canine assistant, Bugsbee, comes to work with her daily and provides great stress relief for the office staff.

Brian Funk has been a reliable part of the Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC team since October 2018, overseeing all of the day to day accounting functions. Funk joined Whitehouse and Schapiro after 8 years at Kelly & Associates and 24 years at John Deere where he worked his way up from Clerk to Accounting and Credit Manager.

Elizabeth Mader brings fifteen years of experience as an economic officer with the U.S. Foreign Service and a Masters degree in Environmental Assessment to Whitehouse & Schapiro’s generations dedicated to recycling.

Nicholas Pinnock brings over 22 years of logistics experience, including five with Whitehouse & Schapiro, LLC and over a decade at the Port of Kingston in Jamaica to W&S. Nicholas manages the Maryland operation, overseeing the consistency and quality of all incoming and outgoing loads. Nicholas has cultivated an impressive expertise in processing second hand goods that is an asset to our partners oversees.

My human Melenie brings me with her to the office to stand guard. As the head of security, it’s my job to make sure I get cuddles from anyone who enters the office. I take my job very seriously. I also specialize in giving high-fives, eating treats and playing fetch.
